SPB play at The Ivrea Carnival, Italy

Ivrea Feb 2008

Stow Pipe Band played at the famous Ivrea Carnival. The Carnival centres around the Orange Battles where most of the town throw oranges at each other for 3 days.

The band played around Ivrea on Sunday morning 'to wake folk up', did a long parade on Sunday afternoon, played at the battle of the bands on Monday night and played at a muckle merch on the Tuesday.

After 3 days of orange chucking, the hats, jackets, brogues, capes, streets, pavements were all showing signs of orange fatigue, as were the band members. The trip was described by Alan Lindsay as "Imagine doing Selkirk Common Riding in the morning, then doing it again in the afternoon, then doing the same again for another 2 days." All good fun though and I'm sure all members will be up for it again the next time we are invited.
